Old Barnsdall Oil Co. Gas Depot, on Hollister, near Santa Barbara

Every now and then things fall into place. Wednesday's class location was changed at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. (Construction Equipment)

Instead I opted to relocate the class down the lane near Ellwood, to paint this historic icon which is behind a fence, and slowly decaying. Still, it was there for us to paint it's portrait.

I only know this building was used as a film location for the movie, "The Postman Always Rings Twice", starring Jack Nickolson. Then one of my students in class told me he use to work there pumping gas. (a long long time ago).

Another student then sent me this image of the gas station, taken not long after it was built. (Thanks Bill)
Now we can only hope to make each brush strokes count, as we paint away each moment; imagining the ghosts of the past...and it all comes together.

The postman always rings twice, because if we don't answer the first ring, we may be out painting.

During the L.A. Art Walk, I got a chance to view a different type of Street Art.

Stumbling into the Hive Gallery in Los Angeles turned out to be a surreal ordeal. Artists to the left, to the right, then to the left again...busy creating like bees. I bumped into this bearded bee wearing a hat. I took a look at his paintings; one depicting a Chase Bank of Fire. I remembered hearing about Alex last fall; that he was being investigated by the L.A.P.D. for projecting the Chase Bank on Fire.

was a humble man with a sense of ironic humor and fiery personality...and this was the story he told:

His paintings depicting Banks on fire were, “was intended to be a visual metaphor for the havoc that banking practices have caused to the economy.” The prompted a police investigation.

He told me that somebody had called the police on him, and said they felt threatened by his painting. The police questioned him, and were curious as to find out his intention. They asked if he was a terrorist and if he was I going to follow through and do to the bank what was depicted in his painting(s). They even came to his house. Since this confrontation, his paintings have gone up in value.

I was interested in his process, and as he got going on his rant, he was more passionate about the social commentary depicted in his paintings, than the actual process of painting. His meek appearance disappeared and he became inflamed and wild eyed...spitting fire at the as he expressed his hatred for the capitalist system, hoping in some way his paintings would be instrumental in "bringing this whole system down!"

I was so inspired by his passion that I wanted to buy his painting right there on the spot. Alex was now a discovered street artist, like Guerilla Artists, Shepard Fairey, JR, and Marco. However, being I was a stranger in a strange land I didn't have the cash on hand, and there was no ATM Machine nearby, I went on a search. When I eventually found one, it had been vandalized (ahem, Gratified) so I couldn't get MY MONEY OUT!!

Inscribed on the ATM Screen was, "We are the 99%!"

So, I guess I wasn't meant to collect this street artist's work at this time. Hopefully I will be able to do this soon before all banks are burned to the ground, and along with them all my money they keep inside.

Night Fall, L.A. Art Walk January 26, 2012

Had a strange surreal dream regarding a moon goddess.

Nightfalls in L.A. and the quirky come out. It was edgy, abrasive, outrageously outlandish. Most of the art was expressing the morbid, morose, horrific. It made me realize the artwork produced in the bubble of Santa Barbara, is relatively tame.

The Artwalk was near the downtown financial district.


It was fun; looking up seven floors to see these glowing hearts in a window.

L.A. Art Walk, the Bradbury Building

Walking into the Bradbury Building was like strolling into a time warp. There are few atriums in the world which compare to this masterpiece. Completed in 1893, it has become an icon 19th Century Victorian Era Aesthetic with it's wrought-iron banisters and railings. It's perfect for Movie Making...

In fact, It recently appeared in the Sherlock Holmes movie, "A Game of Shadows". It's well worth the trip inside, even if the security won't let you past the first floor landing.

No matter though, there was more to see on the Art Walk. When leaving the building, I caught the image of Charlie Chaplin out of the corner of my eye.

On a day which honors Martin Luther King Jr, a man of courage and vision, I have decided to launch an image of a painting I created back in 1988 on Santa Cruz Island. This was my First Night Painting done in Plein Air. I wanted to acknowledge Arturo Tello, a fellow artist and OAK Group member, for suggesting we place flash lights on our heads, and attempt the genre of painting called "NOCTURNES".

Twenty-four years ago I began my trek; and delving deep into the darkness I've since attempted to get to the configuration of the unknown; the mysteries of the night. I guess one can say that as a result, Plein Air Nocturne Painting has led me to a solo show in New York, and to my first Museum Exhibition at the Carnegie, in Oxnard California. I now have a trek record.

Even though this painting is not a very strong statement; it shows the moon rising eastward down the central valley of the island on a cold misty night. Technically, there are many flaws in the painting, especially with the values, but I had to start somewhere in my Nocturne Painting Career, and then stay the course.

In the foreground is the building utilized as the washroom for the Stanton Ranch, and one cubist like manicured Cyprus tree. Carey Stanton (1923-1987) maintained the former cattle ranch, but since his passing in 1987, it is now under the stewardship of the Nature Conservancy.

His friend, the great American Artist Richard Diebenkorn (1922-1993) use to come out to the island on occasion, and create paintings of his island experience. A few were given to Carey Stanton, and are now in the collection of the Santa Cruz Island Foundation.

Teaching Day Demo. January 12, 2012

Today was the first day of the Winter Quarter for SBCC Continuing Education Program. This was the Demonstration painting I produced for the class using oil paints, on gessoed board. The colors I used were based on a palette by Velazquez: Ultramarine Blue, Alizarine Crimson, Burnt Umber, Yellow Ocher, plus Titanium White.

The Demonstration up to this stage, took about one hour.

I figure I will spend about two more hours glazing it on it in the studio, simplifying some areas, glazing and clarifying other parts.

It felt good to push the oils around again, and I am appreciative of the 35 students who showed up for the class.

I've decided to slow my eye down this year, and pay attention to shapes, patterns, light falling on form. When I do then my imagination takes over, showing me there is more out there than meets the eye...

I'm sure I'm not the first to recognize these little animated forms, but it's fun to simply notice they exist, point them out to others, have a laugh, then move on to the next moment.

What better way to start off the New Year than with a Light Show of the Northern Lights, or "Aurora Borealis.

As life presents its multifaceted challenges on a moment to moment basis, we forget the mere existence of this PHENOMENAL LIGHT SHOW happening on a nightly basis, whether we like it or not.

How it occurs is somewhat beyond comprehension. It illuminates the earth; dancing, undulating like wavy, iridescent curtains of light capturing the imagination.

My prayers for the New Year:

-that people awaken to the magic of knowing we are beings; living in the Earth, not of it.

-That we can settle our differences through dialog, not war.

-That shared appreciation for the miracle of life becomes a common denominator motivating humankind to evolve toward a unifying consciousness.

Nocturne Demo Scottsdale Mission, Scottsdale Arizona: December 28, 2011

A couple of years ago I taught a Nocturne Painting Workshop through the Scottsdale Artist's School. This was the first in a series of demonstration paintings I performed during the workshop. One of the students, Marjorie Weaver, volunteered to pose for me by sitting on the wall in front of the mission.

By the end of this evening, my eyes had completely adjusted to the darkness. So much so that I drove off to my hotel without the headlights of my rental car turned on. Needless to say I got pulled over by the Scottsdale Police who were suspicious I'd been drinking. I showed them my painting and denied I'd been drinking. however I admitted I was completely drunk on Moonlight!!

My, "Night Vision Story", made them laugh, and they let me go.

All I know is that I am motivated by that which makes my heart sing.

I love art, so I study it, and make it a priority to surround myself with it.

I buy lots of art books with pictures of paintings made by the great Master Painters of the past.

In a way, they become my mentors...

As I seek out my motif's, Nature reveals to me similar patterns of what may have been witnessed by one of my mentors when they walked the Earth. I am at choice to use these patterns in one of my own paintings; (i.e. STEAL THE IDEA) and develop my art work with this influence at the core of it's configuration.

The other morning I walked outside my home and saw this view at Sunrise. The cloud patterns (Alto Cumulus) reminded me of patterns in a painting I'd seen before by French Impressionist Painter, Claude Monet. This scene lasted only for a few minutes, but I captured it on camera, with the intention of sharing this idea of reference with you.

70 years ago today, young Americans answered the call after the U.S. 6th Fleet was devastated at Pearl Harbor Some who were paying attention to world events made tremendous sacrifices in their own lives to get involved; and though America wasn't at war as of yet, they volunteered as mercenaries to help stem the tide of evil growing on the planet.

These young Americans and their small contingent of aircraft, were already in place; flying as American Expatriates for the Chinese Air Force. The Americans earned the name, "Fei Hu" (Tigers of the Air), but more popularly known as, "The Flying Tigers".

When Pearl Harbor took place, these brave airmen took to the skies in Indochina to stop the advance of the Japanese into Burma, (Now called Myanmar)
This skeleton crew, exhausted and down to the last few men and planes held out for six months, they gave their all and did halt the advancement of the Japanese Brutal Imperial War Machine.

Every Vet who answered the call that day, were willing to put their personal lives on hold and signed up to protect our country in its time of need, is to be congratulated, and appreciated. I try to remember them with every brush stroke, on every canvas. Their dedication and Spirit of Freedom inspires me.

My Father was one of these who answered the call as a U.S. Merchant Marine. This is his flag; a flag that was flown over the U.S. Capital on December 7, 1941. It is flown almost every holiday, with great pride and remembrance.

Long may these colors wave. Remember Pearl Harbor!!

Ghosts Orbs at the Coral Casino, Santa Barbara December 4, 2011

Built in 1926-27 by Reginald Johnson, the Coral Casino (part of Ty Warner's Four Season's Biltmore) has played host to many a celebrity and guest. Friday night I strolled alone the empty corridors and cabanas clicking away with my camera. Not a creature stirred.

However, the Art Deco Era Architecture played host to the sound of my echoing footsteps and my clicking camera catching big blue bouncing Orbs hovering away like globules in a 1960's Lava Lamp!

As William Shakespeare once wrote in the Tempest, "We are such stuff that dreams are made of." Here is my dream made manifest:

Around 15 years ago I had a dream. In the dream, I was painting at Santa Clause Lane Beach. My subject was an Moorish type building called Casa Blanca, at the East end of the beach. I finished the painting, then looked up to my left and saw Pablo Picasso walking toward me. We exchanged greetings and then he asked to see what it was I was painting. I showed him my seascape to which he nodded approvingly. He then asked if I would allow him to show me something to which I agreed, and handed over my brush to him. I watched him take my painting from a pretty picture seascape, and paint a horse straddling above the Moorish buildings with its front hooves in the waves and it's head drinking from the Pacific Ocean. I expressed to him how cool it was for me to witness this transformation of something that wasn't there to something that was...so...illogical. But, on some level, it worked.

And then the dream ended

I let this concept gestate for all these years, and then this last week, on October 26, I took my painting Plein air painting class to that approximate spot on the beach where I had dreamt of my encounter with Picasso. On the class syllabus I'd titled that day's painting location, the "Beach of Geniuses". After my class had done a couple of 30 minute quick sketch seascapes, I told them the story of how in the 1950's Albert Einstein walked in that very location and gazed out to sea. I then shared with my class my Picasso dream, and the art lesson he gave me in that dream, and then, how I was going to surrender and paint what I saw in that dream as a demonstration painting for the class.

I began to paint the seascape in a way I felt was different than any method I'd ever tried before; using a palette of colors unlike I'd ever combined. It was all unknown to me, and during the painting's evolution I kept exclaiming how I have no idea what I am doing or what will happen as a result, but I am willing to try to bring the dream world vision into this dimension. Once I felt I'd freely expressed the seascape aspect of the painting I moved on to paint the horse, rising up out of the castle, and drinking from the ocean. I did my best to configure it between abstract expresstionism and realism. This was a liberating alignment for me merely to share the story, then bring about the spirit into form. In retrospect, Picasso would have considered my painting a preliminary sketch which he would have deconstructed in a matter of minutes. I am not there yet.

That evening I was reading through the Santa Barbara Independent and came to Rob Brezsny's weekly column on Astrology. Reading what he wrote for Virgo, (My Sun Sign) I about fell out of my chair. It read, "When I read a book on Einstein's physics of which I understood nothing, it doesn't matter," testified Pablo Picasso, "because it will make me understand something else."

So, out there on the edge, I attempted to bring spirit into form with the aid and communion of the Master's who rode the tide that day on the beach; and astrologically speaking, the stars aligned for that moment in time.

Ever Seen someone who looks like someone? I always felt my Master Teacher Dan McCaw, bared a resemblance to Vincent Van Gogh. Now when Robert Eringer took this picture of me last night, At Blush, I knew I'd seen that facial expression before. Yeah, I know it's a stretch, but I have a slightly askew imagination.

Late one night on this funny pub crawl;
    when walking toward home I thought I'd seen all.
There in the distance a half lit-up light;
    said, "MORE", (not less), with an arrow in flight.
Now I'm one who's known, for taking a chance;
    so I said to Robert Eringer, "come, watch this dance..."
I climbed up on top of this transformer box;
    I'd thought I'd be cute, sorta sly like a fox.
Eringer stood snapping his photos away;
    I leaped for the sky; "voila!" I did say.
Those lofty ideas that run through my head;
    are more than myth that one puts straight to bed.
It's Surreal, its Dadaist, its searching for edginess;
   Man Ray, and Dali and Magritte would insist.
Vlad the Impaler would spring from his grave;
    if sighting this scarecrow; this ghost-skewered knave.
I'm glad I am here in this modern age;

Silvery Day Demonstration for John Iwerks Class: This last Saturday was a foggy day, so I used a limited palette; using four or five colors, and white, in order to mix my grays. Creeping up on the highlights, I pushed my color in the end of the demo in order to convey the effect of light; intensifying the various highlights in each of the various masses.

I will eventually finish the 11"x14" painting in the studio.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm not out there painting this Harvest Moon. So I take a walk and just enjoy the Moon rise. Walking with my dog Bella, in the cool light of the moon, we happen upon a sleeping Dragon, protecting her eggs. Bella, so incredibly happy to be out under moonlight on the World's Safest Beach, (Carpinteria California), poses quietly so as to not awaken the beast.

I grew up in Carpinteria. Last week I decided to have my painting class on location at this 130 year old Farm House called the Ogan Farm, on Ogan Road. My earliest memories are here at this house. Inside the house is like a time capsule; preserved out of the early 20th century. Mrs. Ogan is still up and running like a rickety Model T; and to take my class on a trip down memory lane, was a novelty.

Speaking of rearranging shapes; on that dark dank night I contemplated walking out on the Venice Beach Pier. Moving forward I wondered what unknown things awaited me out there in that misty dead end.

With images of Edvard Munch's "The Scream" activating my monkey mind, I took the long walk to the very end until I could stroll no further.

It was out there, on the edge, in that solemn balmy void, that I was greeted by what looked like a bird from hell. After taking his picture, he spoke to me and said, "so... you think you know hunger?" I thought for a moment, then before I could retort he blinked, then flew off into the night; nevermore to be seen again, at least by my eyes.

After receiving this poignant message from the aviary master, I too felt rearranged, and my mind began to race. I thought to myself, what the...was that Johnathan Livingston Seagull? Did he mistake me for Richard Bach? Clearly, it wasn't a crow, and I know I'm no Poe.

So, alone with this thought, I turned to walk off, and scurrying from the pier did I go.

Now, when I teach art, I attempt to convey to my students that every experience an artist has in his life is transferred onto their canvas through each and every brush stroke.

In this transformational, somewhat life-changing epiphany, I contemplated just where this fine feathered emissary from the animal kingdom would work his way into my art? Physically, it didn't matter, however I would think of him with every bird shaped brush stroke I may paint in my future paintings.

Instead, remembering his original challenge to me about hunger, I decided I would stop in to a restaurant at the base of the pier... and think some more over a burger and beer!

It's an interesting community;Venice. Odd, mixes well with the normal especially in the areas around the canals. This place is filled with painting potential.

This scene looked like a painting done by Monet or Renoir! (I'm sure both artists used Photographs as reference).

The Venice canal zone is a peaceful place, surrounded by urban calamity; kind of like the Shire in Lord of the Rings, neighboring the hoards of Mordor .

Being near water calms the mind, but never mind.

Remembering 9-11 September 11, 2011

Six Months after 9/11 I visited New York to meet the owners of the Eleanor Ettinger Gallery. I had come to see the space where I would have my first solo art exhibition in downtown Soho.

I visited Ground Zero, and painted a nocturne of the melancholy scene. The air still smelled of death. Windows still shattered, and papers strewn up in the neighboring trees.

I hired a taxi cab to take me through the Lincoln Tunnel over to Hoboken, where I set up my easel and sketched the luminous bluish white lights rising up deep into the night sky.

It was an ominous sight to behold. My painting doesn't even scratch the surface of the depth of significance these search lights represented.

All I know, is it was a pivotal moment for me and my philosophy on life.

Santa Barbara Mission Sept. 9, 2011

One never knows when a painting will sell, and when it does, where it goes.

I painted this painting of the Breezeway at the Santa Barbara Mission, about two years ago, as a demonstration for my plein-air painting class.

It remained in the inventory at the Bottoms Art Gallery since that time and only came close to selling it couple of times.

This last weekend I participated in a benefit art show to raise money for a matching grant to help restoration work continue at the Mission. This was in celebration of the 225th anniversary of the Mission's founding.

I got the painting out of the Gallery and placed it for sale at the event. On that day, I am happy to say this painting finally found a home; It was purchased by a previous collector of mine.

In today's economy, selling art seems to be a rare occurrence; and when it happens I feel an immense gratitude that the art market is still alive and kicking.

My Heart Rocks!

Look what the Earth gives up?

I sometimes wonder and wander the beach. Every now and then I catch one, or two...maybe three hearts of stone. I know it's kinda silly but hey it's cool. It's kinda like cloud dispersing, or like seeing the Virgin Mary or Jesus in a stain on a wall or in a potato chip.

All it takes is imagination, and a keen eye.

In my irrational search for the meaning of life, here's what I've realized about Heart Rocks:

Some are perfect, some askew;
Some are old and crusty, some are fairly new.
Some are dark, some are light;
Some look like they glow at night.

Some are hard; (well duh, they're stone);
Some are brittle and lite like bone.
Some are smooth and some are glossy;
Some feel porous and some seem saucy.

Some look perfectly cliche' in shape;
Some are deceptive; (they're more like, fake!)
Some feel way too heavy to hold;
Some are warm and some are cold.

Some lay obvious, some remain buried.
Hearts shaped rocks are wide and varied;
I search for them because it's fun;
I see my heart in every one.

On this, my 50th Birthday, I hope I don't get stuck between a rock and a heart space!

John Singer Sargent: Life Imitates Art August 20, 2011

Cruisin' with my boys down to the Tall Ships Festival at the Channel Islands Harbor, We went aboard this one small Tall Ship. There near the stern of the ship was this man, sitting there with this straw hat affectively shading himself from the Sun.

It brought to mind a painting I saw one time in a Book called, "Sargent Abroad" which showed watercolors and oil paintings by the Master Artist John Singer Sargent. All the paintings in the book were from travels in Europe and North Africa.

I was always amazed at how Sargent would crop the human figure in his paintings; placing them coming in to the format from below or from the sides of the format. He was merely using the figure, (or part of the figure) as an abstraction, a compositional device. The lines and form of his subjects were of primary importance in order to move the viewers eye around the composition. Size and relative scale of shapes, dynamic diagonal lines, and harmonious color consistently made up his works of art.

I don't have to act from this photograph and create a painting to sell, but I suppose I could I. The most important thing is for me to recognize where I receive my inspiration from; the Master himself. His art inspires imitation, or in my case, try to create an even better variation.

After all, we are living in the biggest room in the universe; the room for improvement.

Grass Hopper Nocturne August 13, 2011

While driving to and the San Fernando Valley from Santa Barbara, sometimes two to three times a week while obtaining my Masters Degree I would spot intriguing subjects to paint along side the freeway.

I eventually got out to paint these pumping units or as I like to call them, "Grass Hoppers", near La Conchita, along with my friend and fellow Nocturne painter, Donn Longstreet, (Great Great Grandson of Confederate Gen. James Longstreet)

On Wednesday, November 18, 1998, It was a cold and quiet night. Except for the sound of the 101 Freeway and and the motors pushing the pumping unit, nothing stirred, but something was up!.

Donn and I got to the location and set up to paint, the grasshoppers were rocking up and down. My challenge was going to paint a moving object so it looked correct. Just then, the grasshopper stopped moving, and remained still in that position the rest of the evening. I literally had a Still Life to paint.

We finished; exhausted, around 10 pm, packed up, and headed back to Santa Barbara. We could see the glow from a fire lighting the sky in Santa Barbara. Donn, an SB County Firefighter, learned Stearns Wharf was ablaze and burning up, so while I went on home to bed, Donn had to gear up, and go fight the fire on Stearn's Wharf for the rest of the night. Bummer for him. Bummer for Santa Barbara.

Smoke Shops Chiefdom August 10, 2011

Someone took a stump and carved this statue resembling a Pale-faced Native American Chief. Who knows how long ago, where, or when it was created, or how many coats of paint it has received, but there it was, staring timelessly out into space.

I find the whole concept of Wooden Totem Poles depicting the American Indian rather intriguing. Maybe it reflects a time when the Indians would be seen hanging around the Trading Posts bordering the new frontier. After the Indians were rounded up and confined, and the wide spread belief that, "the only good Indian is a Dead Indian", was held by the multitudes expanding Westward in Manifest Destiny Mode, scarecrows like this (stereotypical savage heathen in a war bonnet) were harmless replacements for the, "Real McCoy" so to speak. Who knows what emotions it evoked in people...throughout time.

He looks like he wants to speak (or maybe send smoke signals), or cry a thousand tears; possibly from the fact he's stuck outside the barred windows of some seedy smoke shop in Downtown L.A.'s Arts District.

The more I stared into his wooden nickel eyes, I imagined wanting to sit down with him, smoke a peace pipe, and listen to this grandfather's stories about what it was like to live on the land.

When living life on the edge, as an Artist, Visionary, or Ideatian I find myself looking deep within for the answers to my questions. The trouble is, with every answer comes a thousand more questions. So, after a while, I quit asking and just be.

Visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History I came across this Anthropomorphic Oracle; Deep, Black, Shining, and Clear. This I shall use as tool to symbolize the intuitive portal to enlightenment; a conduit, transmitter, generating conductor for metaphysical transformation...and all that other esoteric woo woo hyperbole.

Meredeth Abbot "Thunderheads" 8x12 2011

I am in an art exhibition called, "Front Country" at the Faulkner Gallery, in Santa Barbara. It is a collection of artists from the Santa Barbara OAK Group with paintings for sale depicting the front country of Santa Barbara. 50 percent of the proceeds of the sales are to go to benefit the Friends of Franklin Trail Project.

In the 21 years that we in the OAK Group have been together we've raised well over a million dollars for various organizations dedicated to preserving landscapes as open space.

On Thursday night, August 4, 2011 we had one of the paintings stolen from the exhibition. This is the first time ever an original painting was taken in a heist, from one of our shows. The painting, "Thunderheads" by Meredeth Abbot. It was listed at $900.00, and was graced with a $200.00 Gold Frame.

The police have been notified. Security tapes are being reviewed. There is a remote chance it will be found.

Whomever it was who took this painting off the wall of the gallery had damn good taste in art, and a lot of Gaul stealing it right in front of others in the gallery appreciating the presentation.

Front Country will be on exhibit August 4-August 28, 2011 at the Faulkner Gallery in the Santa Barbara Public Library.

Another lonely night out on the range....

All I could think of is, "What would Edward Hopper think?" Nobody was around, it was DESOLATE! Perfect for my thesis of "unsellable" plein air nocturnes.

A year or so after this painting was created, a Tanker truck exploded on this freeway overpass; blocking the 101 northbound freeway for a few days. Where I live (Carpinteria) was isolated, once again.

Hunter S. Thompson's Cat, "Biff" August 3, 2011

At the Bar with Biff

I traveled to Colorado to visit the haunts of Hunter S. Thompson, along with my Surreal Bounce colleague Robert Eringer.

We entered a time capsule, the Woody Creek Tavern,
At the bar out in the sticks, (the bar Hunter use to hang out at and reap havoc on occasion).

Hunter's dead you know; long gone, by a self inflicted bullet through the head. His ashes now scattered with a little help from Johnny Depp; (shot into space by a makeshift cannon).

His kitty, "Biff,"still has the free run of the joint...coming in and out at will; giving visitors a furry lap dance at his choosing. He is one cool cat!

One of the first Plein Air Nocturnes I created toward my Master's Degree. I found the location in Oxnard off of Del Norte. I kept seeking out motifs that were minimal and moody; with just enough areas of interest to move the viewer's eye around the canvas, and keep the interest in the light.

I heard this nearby packing house was not long for the world so I grabbed my gear and set up under the full moon to capture it for one last time.

It had been there since the 1920's and was utilized by the Carpinteria Motor Transport Company in the last 20 years or so. For years it was a charming subject for Artists and Photographers. It even became a shelter for our Monkey, Siwa, one night after she'd escaped from her cage.

It was torn down with the agreement what would be built in it's place would have similar visual appeal to the packing house. They came close. The Corrugated Metal Siding was taken off and some of it reused for the Palm Loft Artist Live/Work Studios, so that is a good thing.
